Raffle for Rainbow

Event Dates : 09/07/2024 - 10/20/2024

Rainbow Place Shelter first opened in 1982, when a group of women recognized the issue of women in need of shelter during the hypothermia season. Initially, Rainbow Place offered modest provisions: an egg crate mattress on the floor, a cup of hot water mixed with coffee or soup, and some breakfast cereal. Today, Rainbow Place is a well-respected part of the Montgomery County Continuum of Care and a “Critical Nonprofit” according to Spur Local (formerly the Catalogue for Philanthropy). We are proud to share that Rainbow Place has also received a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator.

We provide the following services to our guests:

  • A warm, safe place to sleep
  • A hot dinner, breakfast, and a bag lunch
  • Shower and laundry facilities
  • Case management and counseling
  • Information & referrals to community resources
  • Other resources necessary to transition the women we serve out of homelessness

During our 40+ years as a women’s shelter, we have served well over 3000 women, but that is not enough. We are in the exciting process of expanding our services to young adults (ages 18 – 24) in Montgomery County, including the LGBTQ+ community, with year-round, 24-hour, emergency shelter and the supports needed to transition out of homelessness. Rainbow’s young adult shelter will house 30 guests and will offer services including mental health and substance abuse treatment/counseling, workforce development, and much more. Rainbow will bring all its experience and resources to this new population, who will certainly benefit at a critical time in their lives from Rainbow’s smaller size and caring staff.

Of course, all these plans require the support of our wider community. Our fifth annual “Raffle for Rainbow” runs from September 7th through October 20th, raising vital funds for our shelter.
So, go ahead and see what you can win! Good luck and thank you for playing!
