Raffle for Rainbow!

Event Dates : 09/06/2025 - 10/19/2025

“Raffle for Rainbow” is our annual online “basket” fundraising raffle. Funds raised will help support all aspects of our shelter operations, including shelter upkeep, supplies, and the ability to maintain the experienced professional staff needed to transition our guests from homelessness to a more stable quality of life. This is more critical now as homelessness in Montgomery County has increased dramatically and we are working toward expanding our services.

To play in the raffle simply buy tickets and put them in the “baskets” of the items you wish to win. We have vacation stays, restaurant and theatre gift cards and much, much more!

Be sure to look through all the fantastic prizes to be won. Some may not be where you expect to find them!

About us

For 43 years Rainbow Place Shelter has provided emergency hypothermia shelter to women in Montgomery County Maryland. Rainbow has 24 beds available each night, from November through March. Rainbow is small, but mighty. Well over 3000 women have stayed at Rainbow over the years, and during those years Rainbow has added services well beyond providing shelter. Rainbow’s guests receive a warm, safe place to sleep, 3 meals a day, access to showers, laundry facilities, case management, and referrals to local social services, treatment and housing programs. Rainbow provides all these services while treating every person with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Now Rainbow is working to expand the hours and season of its women’s shelter, as well as increase the number of beds available each night. Rainbow is also in the process of expanding its services to young adults (ages 18 – 24) in Montgomery County, including the LGBTQ+ community, with year-round, 24 hour, emergency shelter and the supports needed to transition out of homelessness. Rainbow’s new young adult shelter will house 30 guests and will offer services including mental health and substance abuse treatment/counseling, GED assistance, legal services, workforce development, and much more.  Rainbow will bring all its experience and resources to this new population, who will certainly benefit at a critical time in their lives from Rainbow’s smaller size and caring staff.
